Comedy Movie Assassination

There hardly is a subject that has not been featured on the big screen and comedy is amongst the favourites as the audience can relax in a fun environment and see themselves in most of the realistic comical scenes. This article focusses on assassinations and how Hollywood succeeds to bring even assassins into the comedy films genre.

Wild Target

Wild Target, features a hit man who decides to retire, but a beautiful thief may prevent him from succeeding. The film is directed by Jonathan Lynn, featuring Emily Blunt, Bill Nighy and Rupert Grint. Released in 2010, audiences meets Victor Maynard as a middle aged assassin living in solitary and aims to please his formidable mother despite his own incomparable reputation for lethal efficiency.

Wild Target

He keeps to a professional routine, which is interrupted when he is drawn to a very attractive intended victim called Rose. He spares her life totally unexpected acquiring a young apprentice in the process. Believing that Victor is a private detective the two new companions tag along, while Victor attempt to prevent his unhappy client’s murderous attention. The movie had an estimated budget of $8,000,00 and gross in USA up to December 2010 an amount of $117,190.

The Interview

The Interview, this movie released in 2014 is based on Dave Skylark and Aaron Rapoport, who is a producer that run’s the celeb tabloid show named Skylark Tonight. When a surprise interview is landed with a surprise fan, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, they are both recruited by the CIA, which turns their Pyongyang trip in a mission of assassination. The movie was directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen starring Seth Rogen, Randall Park and James Franco. The movie is an action packed comedy about two unlikely citizens on a CIA mission. The estimated movie budget was $44,000,00 and by the 23rd of January 2015 it had a gross of $6,105,175.

The Whole Nine Yards

The Whole Nine Yards is a comedy crime movie that entertains audiences with Nick who is a dentist struggling in Canada. A new neighbour shakes things up when Nick discovers that he is Jimmy, The Tulip, Teduski. Not sure of how to handle the information, his wife convinces him to travel to Chicago and inform the mob bosses of the location of Jimmy. The movie is directed by Jonathan Lynn and released in 2002. The actors featured includes Matthew Perry and Bruce Willis. Perry is seen in the role of Nick the dentist, trying to pay off his debt in order to get a divorce from his wife while Willis is the assassin Jimmy, the Tulip, Teduski, has a huge price on his head and tries to live undercover. The movies estimated budget was $24,000,000 and by 16 June 2000 it had a gross in the UK of £2,564,288.

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery from director Jay Roach, released in May 1997. Fascinates moviegoers with the part time special agent and world class playboy, defrosted after 30 years. Dr Evil possesses antediluvian skills and hip mannerisms from the sixties. The movie is followed up with Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, released in 1999. The super funny cast includes Mike Myers, Elizabeth Hurley and Robert Wagner. The movie features the Madonna song Beautiful Stranger. The movie was awarded for Best Fantasy Film by the Saturn Awards.
